The Bucksport Golden Bucks scored the winning run with 2 out in the 8th inning to defeat John Bapst on Friday afternoon, 4-3. It was a nail-biter all afternoon as JB left 6 runners stranded over the first 4 innings before finally scoring in the 5th. Bucksport took an early 3-0 lead in the 5th inning and Bapst answered in the home half with 2 outs. Nick Pooler singled and moved to 2nd on a wild pitch. Bill Wetherbee doubled him home; then Chase Huckstein tripled Billy home to make the score 3-2, Bucksport. In the 6th, Bapst tied the game as Ryan Carr singled, took 2 bases on a fielder's choice, and scored on a wild pitch. Chris Hammond pitched all 8 innings, giving up 9 hits, while striking out 4. Offensively for Bapst: Gagnon- 1 for 3, double, walk, stolen base. Pooler- walk, run scored, single. Wetherbee- double, run scored, rbi. Huckstein- single, triple, rbi. Duplisea- 2 singles, stolen base. Carr- single, run scored. Hammond- single. JB is now 7-3-1 going into a Saturday morning game at Old Town. Game time is 11:00 A.M.
